Basic details about visiting Shri Mahalakshmi Temple

What are the temple darshan timings?

The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. Morning darshan starts at 6 AM. There is an afternoon break from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Plan your visit accordingly to avoid arriving during the break.

Is there an entry fee?

No, entry is completely free for all devotees. There is no charge for regular darshan at Shri Mahalakshmi Temple.

What is the best time to visit?

Early morning (6–7 AM) on weekdays is the best time for the least crowd and a peaceful darshan experience. Avoid weekends and festivals unless you want the festive experience, as the temple can get extremely crowded during those times.

Is photography allowed?

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum. However, photography is allowed in the outer courtyard and exterior areas of the temple complex.

What are the aarti timings?

The temple conducts four aartis daily:

  • Kakad Aarti — 7:00 AM
  • Madhyanh Aarti — 12:15 PM
  • Sandhya Aarti — 6:30 PM
  • Shej Aarti — 9:30 PM

How long is the wait for darshan?

On normal weekdays, the wait is typically 15–45 minutes. During festivals, weekends, and auspicious occasions, the wait can extend to 2–3 hours. We recommend visiting early on weekdays for a shorter wait.

Is there special darshan available?

Yes, priority darshan is available for elderly persons and differently-abled persons. Volunteer assistance is provided at the temple entrance. Please approach the temple staff or volunteers for guidance on priority access.

What pooja services are available?

The temple offers a variety of pooja services including:

  • Abhishek — ₹20
  • Archana — ₹10
  • Special Havan — ₹2,500

Can I donate online?

Yes, you can donate online via our secure Razorpay payment gateway. We accept UPI, debit cards, credit cards, and net banking. Visit the Donation page to make a contribution.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Donations may be eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. A PAN card is required to receive a tax receipt. Please provide your PAN details at the time of donation to avail the tax benefit.

What is the refund policy for donations?

How do I reach the temple?

The temple is well-connected by public transport:

  • By Train: Nearest station is Mahalaxmi on the Western Line, approximately 1.2 km from the temple.
  • By Bus: BEST bus routes 63, 83, and 132 stop right outside the temple.
  • By Auto/Taxi: Easily accessible from all parts of Mumbai.

Is the temple wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the temple provides ramp access for wheelchair users. Volunteer assistance is also available to help differently-abled visitors navigate the temple premises comfortably.

Are there cloak rooms for bags?

Yes, bag deposit and shoe deposit facilities are available outside the temple. You can safely store your belongings before entering for darshan. It is advisable to carry minimal items for convenience.
